Pleasant RidgeMiddle SchoolMay 13th - 18th

Greetings Ram Fam.,

Last dance of the year is tonight from 6 to 8 pm. The cost is $2 or 2 canned goods.

It is hard to believe that we are heading into the last full week of school for this year. I am proud of the way our students have acted this year but a reminder from parents that students need to come to class prepared, stay on top of their work, and be the best Ram possible would be greatly appreciated.

We are still missing a few course requests from the 6th and 7th grade students for next year. Please remind your child to turn their course selection sheets into the office as soon as possible.

Thank you to the PTO, Stuco, Board of Education, families, and Hilltop for providing meals, snacks, and drinks during Staff Appreciation Week.

We plan on hosting our annual Spring Fine Arts Night on Thursday, May 16th. We are excited to have the students in Spanish and Introduction to Agriculture classes join the Fine Arts Night this semester. The students in Art, Spanish, Agriculture, and Industrial Technology classes will have works on display where patrons and family members can view them. The sixth, seventh, and eighth grade choir students under the direction of Mrs. Miller will begin their performance of the play "The Emperor's New Clothes" at six followed by the 6th, 7th, & 8th Grade bands performing at seven. Ms. Kiesling, Mr. Holton, Mr. Silvers, Mrs. Sandoya, and Mrs. Miller put in a lot of time and energy to get ready for this event and I commend them on all their hard work and their efforts to inspire our students to do their best. We hope you can join us in celebrating our students on the 16th.

DON'T FORGET!

PRMS is excited to announce it is turning the big 30! The birthday celebration will take place on Fine Arts Night on May 16th. We will have items on display that showcase the history or PRMS over the years. We hope you can join us!

Some additional important upcoming dates:

  • Move Up Day - 6th and 7th Graders May 20th
  • 8th grade Promotion May 20th
  • Last Day for Students May 22nd

On Monday, May 20th we will hold our first ever Move Up Day, where the 6th and 7th grade students will transition to the next grade level for half of a day. This will helpfully give them taste of what school will be like next year. We will also have the 5th grade over to learn the ropes of middle school. If you have any questions, please let me know.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Very respectfully,

Lucas Siebenmorgen

Policies and Procedures

Below you will find a ton of information about the school year and as always we will continue to update you on school policies, important events and activities coming up the first part of the school year.

  • Safety and Security: Our number one priority each and every day is that students, staff, and visitors are safe at school. We will continue to use our existing procedures, and we will continuously review and modify as necessary any of our procedures, protocols, and practices to ensure that we maximize school safety and security. This summer we had additional cameras installed at PRMS in order to provide more coverage of the building. Only approved visitors will be allowed to enter the building. Please call the front office in order to make an appointment to enter the building. In addition, Officer Green will be returning to the District as the School Resource officer (SRO).

  • Communication with Families: We enjoy sharing our successes with families, and we want to hear from you as well regarding your thoughts about successes and challenges. As principal, I will continue to send my weekly Friday Smore newsletter, to hopefully keep everyone updated on what is happening here at PRMS. In addition, our teachers, coaches and sponsors will be streamlining communication through the use of the Remind app. I highly encourage you to download the Remind app if you don't already have it on your mobile device.

  • Social and Emotional Supports: We know that establishing and continuing to strengthen our trusting relationships with students and families is a critical and foundational step to helping our students learn. We will continue to be mindful of and act upon the social and emotional needs of students, staff, and families. Mrs. Nichols, the district Social Worker is a tremendous resource for our students and families.

  • Attendance and Engagement: We will continue to be committed to working closely with students and families, and we want our schools to continue to be places where students and staff have fun, thrive, and look forward to learning each day. If for any reason your student will be absent, please make sure to call them in to the front office at 913-651-5522 or email the administrative assistants, Mrs. Swinford @ lswinford@easton449.org, Ms. Sinclair at ssinclair@easton449.org or me at lsiebenmorgen@easton449.org. In addition, please know that a students attendance, including tardies, may affect their eligibility to participate in sports or club activities.

  • Technology: All students will be issued a Chromebook that they will carry with them throughout the day. Each student will have a designated teacher where they can house and charge their Chromebooks. We encourage students to treat the Chromebooks as their own property and we ask them properly take care of them. Student are able to sign out their chromebook to take home if needed.
