Open Enrollment Policies and Forms
Applications for nonresident enrollment in USD #449 for the 2026–2027 school year will open in January. Families interested in applying should be aware that the process includes several required steps that must be completed in order to be considered for enrollment.

Enrollment of nonresident students is dependent on seat availability at each grade level. A student may be considered for open enrollment if there are available seats in the requested grade for the upcoming school year. USD #449 has established a maximum capacity of 50 students per grade level. Available seats will first be filled by resident students.
Open capacity numbers for each grade level will be posted by May 1, 2026.
Once open seats have been identified, nonresident student selection will be conducted according to a tiered selection process, in accordance with Kansas open enrollment requirements.
