Mr. Scott Kessler has accepted the position of principal at Pleasant Ridge High School. He has a decade of experience as an educator and brings experience from leadership roles outside of education.
Mr. Kessler is currently the principal at Anthony Elementary School in the Leavenworth School District. He started as the assistant principal at Anthony Elementary in 2016 and was promoted to the head principal position at Anthony Elementary in 2018. Mr. Kessler has proven leadership abilities in both academic and character development. He led Anthony Elementary School to a National School of Character recognition in 2019, which requires a strong character program, good communication with all stakeholders and academic growth. He has also strengthened communication overall with the parents of Anthony’s students. In addition, Mr. Kessler helped restructure their building leadership team, implemented a balanced literacy program as well as adopt new science and social studies curriculum resources.
Before becoming an administrator in Leavenworth School District, Mr. Kessler taught fifth grade in the Blue Valley School District from August 2011 until May 2016.
Prior to his educational career, Mr. Kessler was an infantry officer in the Kansas Army National Guard, which included a tour in Iraq in 2005-2006. Throughout his National Guard service, Mr. Kessler worked in law enforcement, including the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. Kessler holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Emporia State University, a Master of Arts in Management from Webster University, a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of St. Mary’s and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Park University.
In his spare time Scott enjoys hiking and other outdoor sports. He and his family call Leavenworth home. His family includes his wife, Kimberly, daughters Kiersten, Keira, Marissa, son Derek, along with two dogs and a cat. Scott, Kim and family all look forward to joining the Ram Family next year!
