USD #449 Reopening Plan

Good afternoon, Easton community!

I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you today to thank you for the patience and cooperation as we continue to move toward our reopening of school on September 8, 2020.  Last night we took a couple of steps closer to welcoming our students back to Pleasant Ridge!  Please permit me to update you on several items of interest from last night’s Board meeting.

The USD 449 Board of Education approved the reopening plan that was posted in a DRAFT and reviewed by district staff, SITE Councils, and the community.  You will notice in this final copy that there were slight changes that were made based on community and SITE Council feedback. I want to remind you that this document will continue to evolve as more information becomes available to us.  We will be following this document with a Frequently Asked Questions document in a few days.

Also posted here for you today is the 2020-2021 school calendar.  You will notice this calendar provides for a September 8, 2020 start of the school year, maintains spring break as it was initially planned, and a late-May end date.  Please also note that we have removed Late Starts from this calendar.  I want to thank the staff Calendar Committee for their assistance in rewriting our 20-21 calendar.

Finally, please note that the district is seeking a response from all parents/guardians concerning the learning preference they are choosing for their student.  Please go to the newly launched USD 449 webpage at easton449.org and choose if your student would like to be a Remote Learning student or if your child will return to school for In-class Learning.  Your response is invaluable as our staff prepares for the new school year!

Thanks, again, for your help as we move through this late summer and plan for the excitement of Fall.  I cannot recall a time, in my nearly thirty years as part of this staff, where we needed more understanding and cooperation from our community than we do now.  Please join with us as we take on the challenges of 2020 and beyond!

Have a great weekend.
